Arts and Humanities Engagement and Dialogue is the public engagement programme of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Manchester Metropolitan University. They support academics and bring to the public a rolling programme of events and collaborations on a range of topics, disciplines and research areas. AHEAD are experts in identifying how the arts, humanities, and social sciences can address modern challenges and make a positive impact on society.
The Histories of RGSI research group brings together researchers from a broad range of disciplines to explore the historical and philosophical context of what we now call “race”, “gender”, “sexuality” and “disability”, ideas which have helped shape modern society. Their interdisciplinary research sheds new light on the conceptual underpinnings of “identity”, rethinking the diverse ways in which individuals and groups have made sense of themselves, their minds, and their bodies, from the Ancient world to the present.
The Manchester Metropolitan School of History, Politics and Philosophy is home to over 1,000 students and more than 50 academic staff. They offer a student-centred approach to learning across the foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Their teaching is future-focused, practice led and supported by collaborations with outside organisations. Their thriving research culture inspires their teaching and allows students to work regularly with leading experts.
